Natural Surma Pigment – Elephant Grey

A distinctive natural mineral pigment with a deep Elephant Grey tone, carefully prepared into a fine pigment powder for traditional and contemporary artwork.

Surma is known for its exceptionally dense and heavy character, making it noticeably different from many lighter earth pigments. Some artists compare its weight and density to cinnabar, and it has even been informally described as a “black cinnabar” because of its heavy feel and distinctive character. However, Surma is a different pigment with its own unique properties.

Its rich grey-black tone is well suited for miniature painting and other traditional fine-art applications.
